NEP Changes Business Direction With New Product
KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- NEP Holdings (M) Bhd is changing its business direction in order to capture a bigger market with its latest Diamond Home Spring Water System.
Group president Michael Lim said with the new business plan, the company aimed to increase its customer base to two million households from the current 600,000 by 2012.
"This change in business means we no longer sell water filter systems but is now focused on providing a service to consumers," he said during the product launch here on Thursday.
The Diamond Home Spring Water System is a service that allows consumers to enjoy unlimited usage of mineral water from their tap for as low as RM2 per day.
"The filters are provided for free and fully maintained for three years. Consumers do not need to worry about after-sale service and maintenance as these will be provided by NEP," Lim said.
With the product, NEP is introducing its latest technology that is able to convert tap water into mineral water.
"This technology was developed by us working with scientists from South Korea and Japan using bio-ceramic beads to release precious minerals into the water," Lim said.
He also said that the company has plans to penetrate new markets in Southeast Asia such as Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia in the near future.
Based in Malaysia, the company also has a sales presence in Singapore, Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong.
NEP vice president of group marketing, Dr Edward Choo, said the company had invested more than RM10 million in 10 years to develop the latest product and was planning to penetrate the commercial and restaurant sectors.
"As of today, our core market share is residential or home owners. With this new direction in business strategy, we believe we can open up a whole new market," Choo said.
"We are excited with the market potential and the responses that we get has been really great," he said.
According to Choo, the company will allocate close to RM10 million to promote the new product.
"From this amount, we will be allocating RM5 million to promote the product to Bumiputeras. We are inviting more Bumiputeras to be our dealers in order to expand the market," he said.
NEP, he added, was looking to add another 300 dealers within a year.
